Road Rehabilitation Works - Market Street

Public Notice 4 August 2022
Road Works
The City is undertaking road rehabilitation works at Market Street between Collins Street and Dyson Street, Kensington as part of our 2022/23 Capital Works Program. Construction is scheduled to commence on 18 August 2022 and will take approximately two weeks to complete, weather permitting. The construction works are scheduled between 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Traffic management

Temporary lane closures and detours will be implemented to facilitate the works. For the safety of road users and personnel, please follow signage and take care when driving in the area. Should you need to enter or exit your property while the works are in progress, we ask that you speak to the traffic controllers on site who will be happy to direct you through the work site.

Road resurfacing

Resurfacing works (the laying of new asphalt) are scheduled to take place on two occasions during the works period. Nearby and/or affected residents will receive a further letter 48 hours prior to the laying of new asphalt. Driving on freshly laid asphalt can negatively affect the quality of the asphalt and increase the risk of bitumen sticking to car tyres. Vehicle movements in and out of some properties may be impacted.

Reticulation

The works may involve the removal and replacement of some kerbing. If you have reticulation on the kerb line it will be temporarily cut, capped and relocated away from the kerb. A notice will be placed in your letterbox advising once your reticulation has been re-instated. We request that you test your system within two weeks of the notice. If issues present, please notify the City as soon as possible. The City can not take responsibility for repairs after this time.

Elements of the works may be disruptive and the City appreciates your support and cooperation. Our staff and contractors will make every effort to reduce any inconvenience.
