Nominate for a Community Reference Group

  • Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity in the community development or cultural development areas?

There are current vacancies with a number of City of South Perth community reference/advisory groups:

  • Arts Advisory Group (AAG)
  • Inclusive Community Advisory Group (ICAG)
  • Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group (RWG)

Nominations are now open and the term of appointment to the group(s) will be August 2022 to October 2023. Participation is voluntary/unpaid.

Arts Advisory Group (AAG)

The AAG provides specialist advice and recommendations on City and private developer public art projects, the management of the City’s collection of art and public art and relevant arts and cultural projects and programs.

There are two vacancies for community members on the AAG. Nominees must be a local resident or local business owner. Interested local people are encouraged to submit a nomination, particularly from local people who have an interest and knowledge in the arts.

The AAG meets from 6pm-7.30pm on the first Thursday on the months of February, May, August and November.

Inclusive Community Advisory Group (ICAG)

The ICAG is responsible for the oversight of the City’s Access and Inclusion Plan.

There are two vacancies for community members on the ICAG. Nominees must be a local resident or local business owner. Interested local people are encouraged to submit a nomination, particularly from local people who have an interest and knowledge in the following areas:

  • disability services
  • culturally and Linguistically Diversity (CaLD)
  • addressing homelessness
  • support services for LGBTQI+.

The ICAG meets from 12-1.30pm on the third Wednesday on the months of February, May, August and November.

Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group (RWG)

The RWG is responsible for assisting with the implementation of the City’s Reconciliation Action Plan.

There are six vacancies for community members on the RWG. Interested local people are encouraged to submit a nomination. Nominees must fall into one of the following categories to be eligible to nominate for the RWG

  • A traditional owner of the NyungarNation supported by Wadjuk Working Group
  • A local First Nations resident
  • Represent a local City of South Perth Aboriginal Organisation
  • A local Resident committed to working towards positive relations between First Nations people and non-Aboriginal people.

The RWG meets from 12.30-2pm on the second Monday on the months of February, May, August and November.

How to Nominate

Nominees can express their interest for any of the above community reference/advisory groups by completing a Nomination Form (including detailing relevant experience and accepting the terms of reference) before Friday 5 August 2022
