Your rates and the City's Budget 2022/23

News Update 15 June 2022

On Tuesday 28 June, the Council will meet to decide on the City's Budget 2022/23, with Rates Notices to be delivered to ratepayers soon after.

The coming Budget will allocate funds for a variety of services, including waste and recycling collections, the provision of community facilities such as libraries, health, building and planning control, and the maintenance of roads, paths, foreshore areas and parks.

Each year, careful funding consideration is given to ensure the successful delivery of services, programs and events for more than 46,000 residents, while meeting the future needs of our community, which is expected to grow to more than 53,000 by 2027.

On average, the City manages and maintains:

  • 466 hectares of reserves
  • More than 20,000 street trees
  • 42 playgrounds
  • 12 active reserves
  • 203km roads
  • 267km pathways

Your rates are a vital part of the City's service delivery, however much effort is spent securing non-rate revenue to ensure ratepayers receive the best value for money.
