Slow down for safer streets

News Update 12 January 2022

The City works closely with local police to promote safe driving on our roads. We are taking a proactive approach by installing electronic speed awareness signs to remind motorists of their responsibility to drive within speed limits.

Ten speed awareness signs have been installed thanks to a grant from the Australian Government through its Road Safety Awareness and Enablers Fund.

Passing vehicles will see their speed displayed clearly on the signs along with a green smiling face if they are traveling within the speed limit, or a warning to slow down if they are above the limit. Speed awareness signs are known to have a positive impact on driver behaviour and contribute to safer environments, particularly in areas with high foot traffic.

The community can help by contacting WA Police if they witness unsafe driving including speeding, drag racing or burnouts. Call 131 444 if immediate assistance is required, or report the incident on the WA Police website.
