New lights allow more time to play

News Update 5 October 2021
Parks and Reserve works

Sports teams are enjoying extended training sessions after the City installed new floodlighting at Challenger Reserve in Manning. The upgrade allows training to take place at night, expanding the use of the reserve.

The City secured funding through the State Government’s Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund to replace outdated lighting with ten modern LED floodlights that will maximise energy savings and provide better efficiency through a remote access control system.

We are now focusing on our next lighting upgrade at Bill Grayden Reserve in Como, which is due to be completed soon. The works are part of the City's Sports Oval Floodlighting Plan which sets out upgrades to lighting to ensure the community can get the most out of our active spaces.
