An upgrade to the sports lighting at Bill Grayden Reserve will commence this month as part of the City's 2021/22 Capital Works Program.

Four new floodlights and a new lighting control system will be installed to maximise energy savings and automatically regulate the lighting.

Construction works are scheduled to start the week commencing 16 August 2021 and will take approximately 15 weeks to complete, weather and other conditions permitting.

Works will be undertaken in two phases. Stage 1 will be completed within eight weeks of the start date. The commencement of stage 2 is dependent on delivery of materials and will therefore be confirmed at a later date. There will be periods of limited to no construction activity throughout the project prior to the commencement of phase 2 due to the nature of the works.

Works will involve:

  • construction of new concrete footings
  • trenching and installation of new electrical services
  • demolition and removal of redundant services
  • removal of existing floodlights
  • installation of 4 new floodlights
  • testing and commissioning.

To facilitate the works there will occasional movements of construction vehicles throughout the reserve that may present a hazard. Please follow all signage and/or directions from worksite personnel when visiting the reserve.
