Local Planning Strategy approved by the State Government

News Update 3 March 2021

In July 2020, the City of South Perth Council adopted the City’s Local Planning Strategy, the first step to establishing a plan to accommodate our growing City.

Previously the Council had asked for public comments on the Strategy, receiving 282 detailed responses. The feedback from the community resulted in Council making a number of changes to the Strategy before it was submitted to the WA Planning Commission (WAPC).

The Strategy was sent to the WAPC for final approval, which was granted in February 2021.

The Strategy will guide planning decision making over the next 10 to 15 years and provide the City with a high level strategic framework as it moves towards drafting of Local Planning Scheme 7.

The Draft Local Planning Strategy will be reviewed periodically to ensure it remains up to date and aligned to the Strategic Community Plan.
