Australia Day 2021

News Update 25 January 2021
Australia Day

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way the City plans for large-scale events, including Australia Day.

The City's Celebration Zone will not take place at South Perth Foreshore in 2021 following a decision by the City of Perth to cancel Skyworks due to health concerns relating to COVID-19.

The Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony will take place on the morning of 26 January at South Perth Foreshore, where the City will welcome 165 people from 46 countries as they make the pledge to become Australian citizens. Starting at 8am, the Ceremony will include a Welcome to Country, blessing of the flag and flag raising ceremony.

The City will present the honourable Auspire Community Citizen of the Year Awards and Ted Maslen Memorial University Exhibition Award.

The Rotary Club of Como will fire up the BBQs after the Ceremony for a Great Aussie Breakfast from 9.30am, with all profits to go back into the community.
