Volunteer traffic controllers needed for neighbourhood events

News Update 17 December 2019

The City is calling for volunteer traffic controllers with a current Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) qualification to assist with local events.

These events include the Street Meets program - one-off events focused on social gatherings, and the 1000 Play Streets’ program - regular events focused on street play.

Both initiatives aim to optimise connections between neighbours in the community, and the City needs a pool of volunteers with BWTM qualifications to assist with implementing the event road closures. Tasks would include transporting, setting up and taking down traffic control signage in accordance with traffic management plans.

It is anticipated the time required would be two to four hours a month, usually weekday afternoon or weekend daytime hours.
