Draft Local Planning Strategy progress update

News Update 18 November 2019
Local Planning Strategy

The Draft Local Planning Strategy provides the long term strategic direction for the City within the key focus areas of population and housing, activity centres and employment, transport and access, environment and sustainability, heritage, public open space and community facilities, and tourism and entertainment.

In total, the Draft Local Planning Strategy proposes over fifty actions within these focus areas to help shape the future planning of the City.

Earlier in 2019, formal public consultation on the Draft Local Planning Strategy was undertaken. At its meeting on Tuesday 24 September 2019, Council resolved to defer a final decision on the Draft Local Planning Strategy to allow more time for consideration of the outcomes of consultation.

The minutes of the meeting, which set out the reasons for the deferral, are available on the City’s website.

Further updates will be provided in the future to advise when the Draft Local Planning Strategy will be considered by Council again.
