Main Roads WA has completed detailed design work for the new on-ramp to take southbound traffic from Manning Road onto Kwinana Freeway in Como.
The design includes a single-lane southbound on-ramp from Manning Road to Kwinana Freeway in Como to provide direct access to the southbound freeway lanes for road users from Como, Manning, Salter Point and Waterford.
The Main Roads WA project will also construct a new southbound freeway lane from the Canning Highway on-ramp to the Edgewater Road footbridge. Other key changes that will also be associated with this project are:
- A new merge lane from the on-ramp to the freeway heading south
- Closing access to Manning Road from Lockhart Street
- Providing for left-in access to Edgecumbe Street and left-out only access to Manning Road, and
- Providing for a right-turn pocket from Manning Road to Clydesdale Street (south) as well as making provision for future signalised access at the Manning Road intersection with Clydesdale Street (south only).
The $35 million project is part of a $2.3 billion investment in road and rail infrastructure funded by the Australian ($1.6 billion) and Western Australian ($230 million) governments.
