Give a little, change a lot

News Update 21 May 2018

National Volunteer Week (NVW) 21–27 May 2018 is the annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our local and national volunteers.

This year's National Volunteer Week theme is Give a little. Change a lot. It represents the millions of volunteers who make a profound impact in their communities and on society, through giving a little time.

The City of South Perth relies on valuable assistance from volunteers who help the community. A range of volunteering opportunities are available, these include working with seniors, delivering library items and providing guided tours at the Old Mill and Perth Zoo.

The City recognises and celebrates the vital role that volunteers play in the community through the annual Volunteer of the Year Awards. These Awards aim to acknowledge outstanding volunteers for their individual efforts within our community. The Awards are presented annually at the Thank a Volunteer Breakfast held in December. Nominations for 2018 will open in August.

The three award categories are:

  • Junior Volunteer of the Year (under 18 years)
  • Young Volunteer of the Year (18- 25 years)
  • Volunteer of the Year (over 25 years).
