Submit your photos for Collins Street Centre mural
The City has commissioned contemporary visual artist Dr Simon Degroot to create a large-scale mural to enhance the front wall of Collins Street Centre.
Located at the corner of Collins Street and Shaftesbury Street, South Perth, the Centre is an important hub and facility for a range of community groups.
Regular users of the Centre and neighbouring residents joined Simon at an interactive workshop on 19 October to develop initial ideas and designs for the mural. Following the workshop, the City is now inviting the community to submit photographs of unique features from the buildings and landscape surrounding the Collins Street Centre. Simon will reference these photographs to make shapes that may be included in the mural design – together with parts of the collage designs developed during the workshop.
It is envisaged that the mural will be one that community members can identify with and be proud of, and will complement the community’s use of the building and enhance the vicinity’s character.
To submit your photos email publicart@southperth.wa.gov.au by 5pm Sunday, 5 November. Photos must be no larger than 10MB in size.
The community are invited to view Simon’s concept designs on 10.30am-12.30pm Saturday, 11 November at Collins Street Centre, corner of Collins Street and Shaftesbury Street, South Perth.
