Como Jetty reopened

News Update 21 December 2016

The Department of Transport has reopened Como Jetty. Pedestrian access has been granted and the jetty is now open to the public while the Department undertake maintenance works.

The Jetty was closed in late August 2016 by the Department to carry out programmed maintenance on sections of the old timber underdeck support beams which required replacement. Whilst carrying out these works further significant deterioration was found inside the sleeved timber support piles. These piles now require total replacement given their poor condition.

The Department is aware of the importance of the Como Street Jetty and is progressing these issues as a matter of priority.

The existing timber Como Jetty was built in the early 1980s with an expected life of some 30 years.
