On 19 October 2016 the development application for a proposed 34 storey mixed used development at 74 Mill Point Rd in South Perth was approved by the Metro Central Joint Development Assessment Panel.

Is the City happy with the approval?
The City of South Perth recommended refusal of the application based on a number of issues which are detailed in the City’s Responsible Authorty Report. The Council strongly supported the refusal recommendation made by the officers. Accordingly the City does not support the decision made by the JDAP.

Does it plan any kind of court appeal?
No.

Does the City believe serviced apartments will bring the necessary level of commercial activity to the centre?
The City’s Responsible Authority Report, considered that the mix of Serviced Apartments, office units and restaurant/café proposed does enhance the precinct as an employment destination.

Does the City believe the new height is appropriate given content of Amendment 46?
The City’s report did not support the height of the development.

Has the city any indication of the WAPC's decision on Amendment 46?
The report and recommendation on Amendment 46 is confidential and not available to the City, it will be considered again by the Statutory Planning Committee of the WAPC on Tuesday 25 October.
