Free park ‘n’ ride to Perth Zoo these school holidays

Media Release 22 September 2016

A joint initiative between the City of South Perth and Perth Zoo, free parking and a shuttle bus service is due to commence and will be available for residents and visitors to the Zoo for the duration of the September/October school holidays.

An area of Sir James Mitchell Park immediately adjacent to Lamb Street, off Ellam Street in South Perth has been set aside for vehicle parking. A 35 seater shuttle bus will transport visitors between this location and Perth Zoo every 20 minutes, between 10am to 5pm each day from Saturday 24 September to Sunday 9 October 2016, including the public holiday on Monday 26 September.

“This collaboration works towards improving parking outcomes in South Perth during this busy period,” Mayor Sue Doherty said.

“A gold coin donation can be made on the shuttle bus, with all contributions to be donated to a charity, nominated by the Perth Zoo.”

“The City is pleased to be working in partnership with the Perth Zoo and hope that many families will take the opportunity to use this park ‘n’ ride service during the school holiday period,” Mayor Doherty said.
