Evolve. development programme launched

Media Release 8 August 2016
The City ’s Evolve. development programme returns in 2016 with a diverse offering of practical and theoretical artist-led workshops.

Now in its third year, the programme is open to all community members including emerging and established artists, and those who simply wish to expand their learning in the arts.

Free and affordable workshops in screen printing, illustration, photography, felting as well as artist talks and grant writing information sessions will be run by industry professionals including artists James Foley, The Articulate, Louise Snook and Bonnie Boogaard, photographer Eva Fernandez as well as peak industry body Artsource.

The City will also host a public art workshop featuring independent consultant Alison Barrett and artist Anne Neil to help artists explore how to bring their work to the public.

“This year’s Evolve. development program gives emerging and established artists, and people with a love of art to learn from some of the state’s most talented and experienced practising artists,” Mayor Sue Doherty said.

“The workshops and information sessions offer a really unique chance for people to get hands-on, practical and theoretical advice from industry leaders and experts as well as fashion and textile artists, illustrators and photographers.”

The Evolve. development programme runs in conjunction with the City’s Emerging Artist Award which is now open for entries.
