My Foreshore, Our Future
The City of South Perth invites residents, business owners, and everyone who uses the foreshore to take part in the South Perth Foreshore survey when it opens on Monday 1 July 2013.
The survey feedback period will run for six weeks until Monday 12 August and give participants an opportunity to have input into the revitalisation of the South Perth Foreshore as outlined in the draft South Perth Foreshore 2013 and Beyond document.
The draft document South Perth Foreshore 2013 and Beyond outlines objectives and opportunities to revitalise the South Perth Foreshore.
City of South Perth Deputy Mayor Kevin Trent encourages everyone to read the document and to fill in the survey.
“I would encourage everyone to get involved and fill in the survey about the South Perth Foreshore as it is a vital part of creating a foreshore for all.”
“We would like to hear from everyone, including those who provided ideas and comments in the earlier stages of the project.”
“For the City to have a clear vision for revitalisation it is important to hear from people who use and love the South Perth Foreshore, including park visitors, local businesses, tourists, residents, ratepayers, cyclists and community groups.”
“The South Perth Foreshore is a wonderful recreational asset that is loved and used by residents and visitors to cycle, picnic, walk the dog, catch up with friends, appreciate the vistas and the open space. The City wants to make sure we have a clear picture of what opportunities and priorities people see for the foreshore, so we can create an area that best utilises this valuable asset.”
“The South Perth Foreshore project is a long term planning project which will extend over the coming years. The information collected will assist the City in finalising the South Perth Foreshore 2013 and Beyond Strategy document and provide a clear direction for foreshore improvements for decades to come.” Deputy Mayor Kevin Trent said.
The draft recognises considerations for the whole foreshore, including transport, infrastructure, activation, culture, environment and heritage.
As the foreshore covers a large area, ten nodes have been identified. The nodes are walking distance apart, and aim to create a well-planned and connected network of spaces and destinations.
The nodes located along the foreshore include Mill Point, Mends Street, the beaches, Coode Street, and Ellam Street plus other significant areas and aim to create destinations that provide interest, amenity, comfort and connectivity to the greater South Perth Foreshore.
An information session will be held from 6-8pm on Wednesday, 17 July at the South Perth Community Hall. The information session will provide people with the opportunity to ask questions about the documents.
Complete the survey by Monday, 12 August to go into the draw to win an iPad Mini.
