Candidate Information

Have you considered standing as a candidate for local government?

If you’re passionate about the future of our City and believe you can make a valuable contribution, this is your chance to have a positive impact on your community’s future.

A candidate information session for anyone interested in becoming a City of South Perth Councillor was held on Thursday 24 August 2023 in the Civic Reception Room at the South Perth Civic Centre.

The session provided an overview of the roles and responsibilities of Elected Members and the nomination and election process. A copy of the presentation is available to download at the bottom of this page.

You can nominate to stand as a candidate in the City of South Perth if you are eligible to vote, which means you are at least 18 years of age, not disqualified and enrolled to vote.

Local Government elections will be held on 21 October 2023, with nominations for Council open from 31 August to 7 September.

More information about nominating as a candidate can be found on the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries website.
