Vibrant street party to celebrate Mural Festival in the City
The City of South Perth’s eagerly anticipated No More Blank Walls Mural Festival will see vibrant murals being painted in South Perth, Kensington, Manning and Karawara between 10-18 April.
A high-energy street party is being hosted on Sunday 12 April, to kick off a week-long program of events to celebrate the new public art installations across the City. Held at Village Green Shopping Centre in Karawara from 2-8pm, this family-friendly outdoor event will bring together live mural painting, music, art and kids’ activities, creating a lively open-air space for community connection.
A live art battle will see internationally renowned Irish artist Aches go head-to-head with a local talent. Aches has built an international reputation for designing murals that attract people’s attention. After more than a decade painting across Europe and beyond, his practice now spans both large-scale public work and studio pieces – but it’s on the street where his visual language truly comes to life.
A live DJ and pop-up bar by Varsity will keep the energy high throughout the event. Attendees can also get amongst the creativity with a paint-by-numbers mural workshop wall.
The festival is shaping up to be an action-packed showcase of talent, featuring an impressive line-up of artists. In addition to Aches, other confirmed artists include WA’s own Fieldey, Amok Island, James Giddy, Sioux Tempestt, Jarni and Rob Jenkins, alongside east coast talent Loretta Lizzio (QLD), George Rose (VIC), and Justine McAllister (VIC).
Festival highlights include:
- Life Drawing Session – 15 Apr, 6.30-9.30pm
- Plein Air Workshop – 16 Apr, 8.30-11am
- Artist Talks – 17 Apr, 6-9pm
