City trials new technology to strengthen ACROD parking integrity
The City of South Perth is embracing innovative technology to help ensure people with disability can access the parking spaces they rely on.
As one of only a small number of local governments participating in a pilot trial, the City’s Ranger team is helping test a new ACROD Permit Scanner that allows officers to check the validity of disability parking permits in real time. The tool helps identify permits that may have been cancelled or deactivated, supporting fairer enforcement and improving access to ACROD bays for those who genuinely need them.
The trial is being coordinated locally by Senior Ranger James Andrews and the City’s Community Rangers, who have been working closely with the National Disability Services (NDS) team on the program.
By supporting innovative solutions like this pilot, the City is helping strengthen the integrity of the ACROD Parking Program while ensuring our community benefits from smarter, more effective services.
