Remembering former Mayor John Hardwick

We are saddened to announce the passing of former Mayor John Hardwick, who served our community with dedication and distinction. 

John was a Councillor for Manning Ward from 1990 to 1995 and Mayor from 1995 to 1999, leaving a lasting legacy through projects such as the George Burnett Leisure Centre and the acquisition of the May Gibbs collection.

Awarded Freeman of the City in 2010, John’s commitment to the community extended well beyond his time on Council, culminating in a 2015 OAM for his service to the community of South Perth and to local government. 

John’s lifelong service and passion for South Perth will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. We extend our deepest condolences to the Hardwick family at this challenging time.
