Artist Amber Bennison wins her third People’s Choice award
Third time’s a charm for Salter Point local Amber Bennison, who has taken out the SOCO Realty 2025 Emerging Artist People’s Choice Award for three consecutive years.
Her mixed media work, Before Flight, garnered plenty of attention at this year’s exhibition, combining acrylic and collage to create a moving portrait inspired by her daughter Rosie.
Collaged in hand-printed papers and layered text, the captivating work evoked a sense of wonder and connection, receiving the highest number of votes from the public.
In 2024, More Laughter at McDougall Park by Amber was awarded the People’s Choice and she also took out the coveted award in 2023 for her artwork Ningaloo Turtle.
In addition to a $1000 cash prize sponsored by SOCO Realty, the artwork will join paste ups of her previous winning works in the underground carpark at Coles on Angelo Street, South Perth.
The Emerging Artist Award is an annual program providing a unique opportunity for emerging and early career artists of all ages to exhibit their work in a public exhibition.
