City to begin annual broadleaf weed spraying

News Update 16 June 2025
The City of South Perth will commence its annual Broadleaf Spraying Program in July 2025 to control weeds in sumps and reserves, helping maintain well-presented and enjoyable turfed areas for the community.

Spraying will be carried out by the City’s licenced contractor, following the manufacturer’s recommended rates.

Caution signage will be displayed on all contractor vehicles applying the herbicide and on the perimeter of the spray location, advising park users of the product being applied.

This signage will be displayed whilst the spraying occurs, with the weed control operations being monitored by City Officers in accordance with safety guidelines.

It is expected the spraying program will last for five weeks, however this may vary depending on to weather conditions. The program will commence Monday 21 July at Sir James Mitchell Park, followed by active reserves, passive reserves and sumps.

The City will make every effort to ensure the safety of the community and environment during the spraying program.
