Waste and recycling update

We know waste collection is important to you.

Following our recent communications about our hard waste collection service, we want to assure our residents and ratepayers that we are investigating a range of waste collection and recycling solutions for our City.

Here’s an update on what we are working on:


  • We're currently seeking tenders for an “on-demand collection” waste service and will update you as soon as we know more.
  • We're opening a new Reuse Shop at the City’s Recycling Centre on Thelma Street where good quality, pre-loved items donated by community members will be made available for sale.
  • A Containers for Change bag drop point will soon be operating at the City’s Recycling Centre providing residents with a local facility to drop off their 10c containers.
  • Ratepayers will be provided an additional one hard waste and two green waste Recycling Centre entry vouchers with the 2025-26 Council Rates notice to assist with a transition to a new waste service. 
  • We’re developing a process to provide an option of a loan trailer to assist residents to deliver their waste to the Recycling Centre for the Reuse Shop or disposal.
