Parkrun activation update
The City of South Perth is liaising with Parkrun Australia to complete a nomination process which would see weekly Parkrun sessions held along the South Perth Foreshore on Saturday mornings.
The community recreation activity where participants can walk, jog or run over a 5km course is held across Australia.
The City invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) in July from people in the community to provide volunteering assistance to establish Parkrun at a suitable local site, park or reserve.
Expressions of Interest closed on 31 August and resulted in eight people nominating as Parkrun volunteers – enough numbers to establish Parkrun in South Perth.
Following the nomination process with Parkrun Australia, the City will assist the volunteers to complete the required event planning to prepare for the weekly Parkrun sessions, which are anticipated to commence in November or December.
