Perfectly Queer festival returns

Are you queer to perfection? Spectacularly undefinable? Beautifully non-binary? Join us at Perfectly Queer festival.  

Returning to the City of South Perth, Perfectly Queer invites young LGBTIQA+ people and allies to join the party! From 17 May until 28 June 2024, the series of free events will support young people in our community aged between 16 and 25 who may be exploring and/or questioning their identity.  

The packed program includes a fun-filled evening of Drag Bingo hosted by the wonderful Lola Blades, a movie night featuring romantic teen drama ‘Love, Simon’ and a life drawing class with contortionist Drag King, Jaxon Coke, where you're invited to create your very own masterpiece in charcoal.  

Plus, we will be hosting an evening discussion with trans non-binary author and advocate Seth Malacari from Get YA Words Out and two dedicated pronouns workshops, one for young people and one for parents. These workshops are hosted by a gender and sexualities expert from Freedom Centre and will cover pronouns, identity, gender and attraction, as well as sexualities and presentation.  

City of South Perth CEO, Mike Bradford welcomed the return of Perfectly Queer, noting the importance of belonging and empowerment for young people. 

“Perfectly Queer is designed to bring people together and foster a community that is accessible and inclusive for all,” Mr Bradford said. 

“By providing a platform for young LGBTIQA+ individuals to connect, learn and grow, Perfectly Queer plays a crucial role in building resilience, confidence, and self-empowerment. It’s also a lot of fun.” 

Perfectly Queer is a wonderful way to meet awesome locals and make new friends and is proudly supported by the South Perth Youth Network.
