Commemorating ANZAC Day – Lest we forget

Media Release 11 April 2024

Join us on Thursday 25 April as we commemorate ANZAC Day.

Held in conjunction with the Victoria Park and South Perth Returned and Services League Sub Branch, the City’s ANZAC Day Service will take place from 6.45am to 9am at the Memorial Gardens, at the Civic Centre in South Perth.

Everyone is welcome to attend our ANZAC Day Memorial Service. Whether it's your first time, or one of many, the City of South Perth welcomes you to join us, take part in an important cultural moment, and remember together.

Following the service, morning tea will be served in the South Perth Community Hall.

City of South Perth Mayor, Greg Milner said the annual ANZAC Day Service is a well-recognised tradition and commemorative occasion within the City of South Perth.

“ANZAC Day provides an opportunity for the community to come together and share this unique cultural experience with each other and those who may be experiencing it for the first time,” Mayor Milner said.

“This ANZAC Day we honour that legacy by coming together as a community, taking pause and remembering together.”

Seating and ACROD parking will be available. The upper carpark at the Civic Centre will be reserved for permit and ACROD permit holders only. General event parking will be at the lower carpark and overflow parking will be available off Sandgate Street.

Road and bus stop closures will be in place from 6am-10am on Thursday morning 25 April to support the march. A section of Sandgate Street near the Civic Centre will be closed in both directions and South Terrace will be closed one way. Signage and detours will be in place.  Bus stops 11905, 11906 and 11907 along bus route 34 will be closed during the service.
