Stage two of Local Planning Policies review starts

News Update 9 October 2023
LPS7

A review of the City’s Local Planning Policies (LPPs) is underway to align with State Planning Reforms and support implementation of the City's draft Local Planning Scheme No. 7.

The review will ensure the City has an up-to-date planning framework to support good planning outcomes for our community into the future.

Stage two of the review has commenced with Council resolving at the September 2023 Council Meeting to amend two existing LPPs which require consultation.

1. Draft Local Planning Policy – Child Care Premises

2. Draft Local Planning Policy – Advertising Signage

The City is now seeking feedback on amendments proposed to these LPPs. Feedback closes at 4pm, Tuesday 31 October 2023.

Stage one of the LPP review commenced on Tuesday 25 July 2023 when Council resolved to revoke eight LPPs, retain Policy P351.14 Cygnia Cove Residential Design Guidelines and amend two existing LPPs with minor changes which did not require consultation.

The draft Local Planning Policy - Design Review Panel and draft Local Planning Policy - Developer Contribution for Public Art and Public Art Spaces were advertised for 21 days following the July 2023 Council Meeting. The revised LPPs will be presented to Council for adoption at the October 2023 Council Meeting.

Further LPP review stages will take place in early 2024 and will include amendments to existing LPPs and the development of new LPPs.
