What next for Lake Douglas bridges?

News Update 22 February 2023
South Perth Foreshore

The City has engaged external engineers to provide a condition assessment report on the two bridges over Lake Douglas at Sir James Mitchell Park in South Perth.

The report will provide recommendations for repair and maintenance to the bridges which are almost 40 years old.

An initial engineering assessment identified that works will require the bridges to be closed for a period of time whilst maintenance is carried out. In response to this assessment, the City recently installed a connecting path between the bridges to allow pedestrians to continue to use the area.

The City understands the bridges' value to community members, who have enjoyed using them since they were installed in 1987. The City will communicate further information prior to any work being undertaken.
