Becoming a Local Government Councillor
The Office of Multicultural Interests (OMI) is hosting an information session to encourage people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds to nominate for council in the local government elections this October.
Session topics
- the work of local governments
- the role and responsibilities of local government councillors
- what knowledge and skills are important
- how to campaign and encourage people to vote for you.
The session also includes an opportunity to ask current and former councillors about their experiences in the role.
Light refreshments will be served.
