Council endorse Innovate RAP

News Update 30 June 2021

The City's draft Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) was endorsed at the June Council meeting.

The Innovate RAP is the second stage of our reconciliation journey and has been developed with input from the community and key stakeholders. Thank you to everyone who has made a contribution to this important document.

There are four stages to our reconciliation journey; Reflect, Innovate, Stretch and Elevate.

The Innovate RAP will provide a framework to help us achieve our vision for, and commitment to reconciliation. It will act as a guide for recognising and celebrating Aboriginal culture and heritage within the City.

The actions are meaningful yet aspirational to help us trial new approaches for developing and strengthening relationships, showing respect and improving opportunities for Aboriginal people.

The Innovate RAP has now been sent to Reconciliation Australia for final endorsement and we are looking forward to working with the community to strengthen relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all.
