Welwyn Ave shopping area refreshed

News Update 2 June 2021
Manning Community Hub

The second phase of the City's Manning Hub Project is nearing completion with works to revitalise the Welwyn Ave shopping area now in their final stages.

Shopfronts have been refreshed with new pavement brining a cohesive look and feel to the area. Upgrades to the carpark are underway and bike racks will soon be installed.

Parking bays now have wheel stops installed to ensure safety. These will be painted bright yellow in the coming days to improve visibility for pedestrians and the City is reminding shoppers to be cautious while construction works are still taking place.

An unused building that once housed a deli has been demolished and transformed into a laneway to open the area and allow pedestrians to move easily between Manning Hub and Welwyn Avenue. The laneway will also become a welcoming community space with locally made street furniture, including timber seats and tables, and energy efficient lighting encouraging people to spend more time in the area.

The next few weeks will see greenery added and garden beds filled with native waterwise plants.

Works are planned to be complete at the end of July 2021. For more information visit the Manning Hub project page on the City's website.
