At the April meeting, Council received a Notice of Motion regarding the suitability of the replacement Hurlingham playground.

Council subsequently endorsed the development of a design and cost estimate to install an appropriate all abilities accessible and inclusive playground at the site to be included in the draft 2021/22 Capital Works program for Council consideration.

A copy of the minutes of the meeting is available on the Council Meetings page of the website.

The City recently replaced this playground at Sir James Mitchell Park near Hurlingham Road, South Perth as it was no longer safe or fit for purpose.

New play equipment was installed including two traditional swing sets and a Tornado Basket Swing.

The sandpit itself and shade sails were retained and the nearby wheelchair accessible Liberty Swing also remain.

As identified in the City’s South Perth Foreshore Strategy and Management Plan, a new exciting playground will be considered as part of the planning for the Coode St: Node 2 area. Equipment for the Hurlingham playground was chosen to complement these plans.
