Temporary change to bike path at foreshore

News Update 24 February 2021
Joint Bike Plan South Perth Foreshore Waterbird Refuge

A 500 metre section of bike path alongside the lakes at South Perth Foreshore is being shared by cyclists and pedestrians while the City carries out important environmental work to create a habitat for native birds.

Temporary changes to the path will be in place during construction of the Black Swan Habitat from April until July 2021. The footpath near the Wesley Boatshed is closed and the adjacent bike path converted to a shared path. We are asking pedestrians and cyclists alike to be cautious when sharing the path.

The Black Swan Habitat Island project (previously referred to as the Waterbird Refuge) will repair damaged river walls and create a sheltered island with vegetation for birds to nest safely.
