Join the Aussie Backyard Bird Count

News Update 7 October 2020

Get to know the birds in your neighbourhood by participating in this year’s Aussie Backyard Bird Count.

The Aussie Backyard Bird Count is held each year in Spring and involves the whole community.  All you have to do is count the number of different birds you see over a period of 20 minutes, whether it’s in your garden, the local park, at school, the beach or your favourite spot outside.

The Aussie Backyard Bird Count is run by Birdlife Australia and helps develop an understanding of the common species that live where people live, providing a snapshot of Australian birds.

You don’t need to be a bird expert to get involved. If you need help identifying local birds, download the Aussie Bird Count app, which has a guide for identifying birds based on their size, colour and key features.

When you have finished your count, submit it online or using the Aussie Bird Count app. There are some great prizes up for grabs.

This year’s event will take place between 19-25 October.  For more information click here.
