Recognising our local heroes

Media Release 4 September 2020

Do you know someone who makes a real difference to our local community?

Nominations are now open for the 2021 Community Citizen of the Year Awards, recognising individuals and organisations who make a notable contribution or provide an outstanding service over a number of years.

If you know someone who works or volunteers in education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sport, arts, environment, social inclusion or any other areas that contribute to the improvement and wellbeing of our community, please nominate them.

The awards are run each year by individual councils and Auspire - the Australia Day Council WA, with local nominees and winners recognised at the City of South Perth’s annual Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony on 26 January 2021.

City of South Perth Mayor Greg Milner said our local community heroes help make our City a better place to live.

“I encourage anyone who knows an individual or group that has improved the lives of others, to please take the time and nominate them,” Mayor Milner said.

Award categories include:

  • Community Citizen of the Year
