Buy Local, Shop Local in the City

Media Release 3 July 2020

Local businesses play a vital role in sustaining and strengthening our community.

We are fortunate enough to have a wide range of local businesses, but they need your support more than ever as we move into the recovery phase of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The City has developed a campaign to support local businesses by encouraging everyone to shop local.

The campaign includes an online local business directory, street banners and a range of other promotional material for businesses to use and display to help create awareness and stimulate business.

City of South Perth Mayor Greg Milner said it’s been a challenging time for a lot of local businesses because of COVID-19.

“Economic development is a new area of focus for the City and we are excited to work closely with local businesses during this tough time. Our local businesses are fundamental to our community – they provide the goods and services that we rely on every day, they provide employment, they are the engines of our economy – and they need our support.

“If you are a local business within the City and haven’t signed up to the Buy Local, Shop Local campaign please contact us. Businesses can choose the campaign that works best for them.

“If you are a resident, please support our local businesses by buying local.  Look out for the new Buy Local, Shop Local stickers in business windows around the City,” Mayor Milner said.
