Local Business Support for easing of restrictions

News Update 13 May 2020
COVID

The City welcomes the WA roadmap and the phase 2 easing of restrictions and we look forward to working with local businesses to support them as they transition towards reopening from Monday 18 May.

With social distancing requirements and the 20 people maximum capacity guidelines, some may not be able to cater for the maximum number of patrons inside their premises.

The City has been in touch with local food businesses to offer support and advice on interpreting the new rules as they navigate the requirements to reopen.

Those who need to expand their alfresco dining area in particular are encouraged to make contact with us. Footpaths must remain accessible at all times for prams and wheelchairs but we are ready to help facilitate reopening if required.

Alfresco permit fees have already been refunded as part of the City's Local Community Response and Relief Package and consideration is being given to the waiving of food premise licence fees for six months from 1 July.

We recognise the challenges that many businesses have faced over the past few months and although not every business will be able to open as part of phase 2, we are here to support those who can on their journey to reopening.

The City's new Buy local, Shop local web page provides a list of businesses currently open in the City and will provide a platform for future collaborative work.

As the distancing restrictions are lifted and businesses reopen, we will update the listing.

If we have missed a business, or if we have any incorrect information in our listing, there is a short form on our website or you can email us at enquiries@southperth.wa.gov.au.

We will also support the already established Buy Local and Good News South Perth community led Facebook pages and website.
