Message from Mayor Greg Milner

Message 17 March 2020
COVID

Over the past week I have been out and about in the City listening to community questions and concerns related to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The safety and wellbeing of our community is Council’s first priority in this fast moving environment.  I would like to reassure residents and businesses that we are monitoring the situation very closely, following advice from and working with State and Federal Governments and will continue to provide updates as they become available.

Last Friday, based on advice, we made the decision to postpone the Hello Manning community festival. We have also postponed a number of smaller library events and programs and will continue to review other City events, programs and services.

On Monday evening, I attended a meeting organised by the WA Local Government Association (WALGA) where David Templeman, Minister for Local Government and Roger Cook, Minister for Health briefed local governments on COVID-19 and the role local governments will play in responding to this situation.

I encourage all members of our community to follow us on Facebook, monitor the City’s website or visit the Department of Health for regular updates.
