News Update 6 March 2020
Local Planning Strategy

Council will again consider the Draft Local Planning Strategy at the Agenda Briefing at 5.30pm on Tuesday 17 March 2020 and Ordinary Council Meeting at 7pm on Tuesday 24 March 2020.

There has been a high level of interest in this project, with extensive feedback received during the formal consultation period in 2019. You can view the report on the City's website.

Members of the public may address Council by making a deputation at the Agenda Briefing.

Council first considered the Draft Local Planning Strategy at its meeting in September 2019, where it was resolved that further review was needed. Following workshops with Councillors, a range of further modifications to the Draft Strategy are proposed including:

  • Modifications to the managed growth strategy, including changes to the Angelo Street and Canning Highway (Places 3, 4 & 5) areas
  • Additional and modified actions relating to character protection, built-form transition, the transport network, protection of mature trees and housing diversity amongst a series of other modifications.
The minutes from the March meeting will be available on the Council Meetings page of the website by close of business on Friday 27 March 2020.
