Road works - Thelma Street, Como
In accordance with the 2019/20 Capital Works Program, the City of South Perth will be undertaking road rehabilitation works at the following location:
- Thelma Street between Coode Street and Canning Highway - Thursday 20 February to Wednesday 26 February 2020
Night works
Night works are scheduled from 7pm to 6am to avoid major disruption of high-volume day-time.
Activities taking place at night will include:
- Reconstruction of the median island at the traffic lights
- Milling of the existing road surface
- Resurfacing with new asphalt
- Traffic management
- Minor Concrete works
Equipment and vehicle movements may create noise for adjacent residents. To minimise disturbance to residents an out-of-hours Noise Management Plan has been prepared by the head contractor, Asphaltech, and approved by the City of South Perth.
Traffic Management
For the safety of road users and personnel, temporary lane closures and detours will be implemented to facilitate the works. Thelma Street will be closed between Canning Highway and Coode Street, with a detour via Preston Street or Alston Avenue. Local residents will be permitted to access their properties, although some delays may occur.
Reticulation
The works may involve the removal and replacement of kerbing. If residents have reticulation on the kerb line it will be temporarily cut, capped and relocated away from the kerb. A notice will be placed in letterboxes upon reinstatement of the reticulation. The City requests that residents test their systems within a two-week period of receipt of the notice and if issues present they are to notify the City as soon as possible.
