Annual pavement and road crack sealing program
Between November 2019 and January 2020, in accordance with the 2019/20 Capital Works Program, the City will complete an annual Crack Sealing Program to stop the ingress of moisture to the pavement below the bitumen surface and prolong the life of existing bitumen roads. The City’s roads have been assessed and a list developed for action.
The process involves the eradication of weeds within the road surface, the high pressure cleaning of debris from within the cracks then application of a hot polymer modified bitumen binder into the cracked surface.
The process will involve short term partial or full road closures.
Residents are asked to take care when driving around these work sites and stay away from freshly treated areas.
