Recreation and Aquatic Facility update

News Update 14 June 2019
RAF
Following the pre-election commitment of $20 million for a proposed Recreation and Aquatic Facility (RAF) from the Coalition Government, and their successful return to office, the City is continuing to work with government and private sector partners to establish the required level of support for the development of the RAF project.

Whilst the project remains in the early stages of planning, it is anticipated that the facility would include a number of pools, indoor sports courts and a public gym/fitness studio, as well as integrated golf-related activities.

In order for the project to proceed to the delivery stage, the City still has to address a number of factors including (but not limited to) the attraction of appropriate levels of funding to contribute towards both capital and the ongoing operational model.

Collier Park Golf Course in Como is emerging as the preferred site for the RAF due to funding opportunities, significant and growing catchment and unique mix of leisure opportunities.

A report will be submitted to Council in July 2019.

What's next?

The City is still at the early stages of evaluating this project. As the feasibility evaluation progresses the RAF project page of this website will be updated.
