Boardwalk repairs complete

News Update 20 June 2018
Maintenance Works South Perth Foreshore

Repairs to the boardwalk through the Melaleuca grove (west of the flagpole) in Sir James Mitchell Park, South Perth are now complete.

In early 2000 the boardwalk was constructed to allow public access through the area.

As a result of age, the boardwalk was identified in 2018 as being in a state of disrepair and repairs commenced in March.

The Melaleuca grove is the last remaining remnant of its type on the Sir James Mitchell Park Foreshore.

The boardwalk has been identified in the South Perth Foreshore Strategy and Management Plan (Node 6) as an area to be developed as a passive recreation space with an interpretive walk which offers users an experience of the sites history and as such repair was necessary to facilitate this.
