South Perth Activity Centre Plan update

News Update 8 May 2018
South Perth Activity Centre Plan South Perth Station Precinct

The City is preparing an Activity Centre Plan for the South Perth Station Precinct and immediate surrounding area.

The Plan will provide the strategic vision and statutory framework for the planning and development of the area, taking a holistic, long-term approach that can be updated over time to respond to community and stakeholder needs and aspirations.

The Plan will guide movement and access, land use and built form as well as inform planning and design of streetscapes, public open space and transport initiatives within the activity centre.

Preparation of the Plan is required under the State Government planning framework which classifies the area as a District Centre.

Additionally, preparation of the Plan is a key recommendation of the South Perth Peninsula Place and Design Report (May 2017), a document which details the outcomes of the intensive South Perth Station Precinct Place and Design Study which the City undertook in early 2017.

The City engaged consultants RobertsDay in August 2017 to prepare the Plan.

The Plan and associated Town Planning Scheme amendment are currently being drafted ahead of presentation to Council.

There will be a range of opportunities for the community and other stakeholders to provide feedback on the draft Plan during the public consultation period which is anticipated to commence later in the year.
