Emerging Artist Award exhibition set to open

Media Release 14 September 2017

Celebrating its fifteenth year, the City of South Perth’s 2017 Emerging Artist Award will open to the public on Friday 22 September.

This annual award offers upcoming artists and art students an opportunity to exhibit their work to the wider community, as well as a chance to share in $9,000 of cash prizes.

This year 81 entries were selected across a range of media including painting, photography and sculpture. For the first time in its history the award has accepted 3D entries up to 1.6 metres in height, resulting in the most diverse collection of works ever exhibited by the City of South Perth.

Works will be available to view in the South Perth Community Hall from Friday 22 September to Saturday 30 September 2017. Visitors to the exhibition will have the chance to vote for their favourite piece and purchase artworks.

Awards are presented in eight categories. This year’s judging panel is comprised of Mark Parfitt Course Coordinator Fine Art School of Design and Art, Curtin University; Judy Rogers, artist and Neil Elliot, artist and curator.
