Public art to reduce graffiti

News Update 13 September 2017

The City is proud to support the installation of public art on the Telecommunication Huts (Telco Huts), located alongside Kwinana Freeway in South Perth.

The initiative from WA Police and South Metropolitan TAFE students aims to reduce the incidents of graffiti in regular tagging 'hot spots'.

As part of a crime prevention strategy, officers from the WA Police Force's Graffiti Team engaged local TAFE students to produce the art murals.

The group of students from South Metropolitan TAFE includes both mainstream students and an alternative program for youth at risk.

The project has received generous financial support from Telstra, Vodafone and Optus.

The City contributed through clean-up of the site and application of an anti-graffiti coating to the artwork.
