Collins Street Centre mural

News Update 15 August 2017
Public Art

The City of South Perth is commissioning a large scale mural to enhance the front wall of Collins Street Centre, which will provide an attractive and vibrant entrance to this popular community venue.

The City invites regular users of the centre and neighbouring residents to be involved in this exciting local project.

Collins Street Centre is located at the corner of Collins Street and Shaftesbury Street, South Perth WA.

The Centre is an important hub and facility for a range of community groups and the mural commission will need to complement the community’s use of the building and enhance the vicinity’s character.

The City will engage an experienced artist who will work with interested community members and the City to develop ideas for a mural that is creative, unique and appropriate for the area. If you would like to be part of the workshop with the artist to contribute your ideas for the mural artwork, please register your interest before 5pm, Monday 28 August 2017.

It is envisaged that the workshop will take place mid October at the Collins Street Centre. Register your interest to be involved and we will notify you by email of the workshop time and date.

Following the workshop, the artist will develop concept designs which will be available for viewing at an open day at a later date.

Expressions of Interest from experienced artists

The City is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from experienced artists who are able to engage and work with community stakeholders and the City to develop a mural concept that is creative, unique, inclusive, and well planned.

It is anticipated that the final design of the mural will be led by the selected artist’s creative vision and practice, but be developed in a way that ensures that community members can identify with and be proud of the outcome.

We encourage you to call us to discuss your ideas. We may be able to assist and can offer advice on the planning of your artwork delivery. Please return all submissions via email or complete the online form.
