Media Release 4 May 2017
South Perth Station Precinct

Outcomes of the Place + Design: South Perth Station Precinct project will be presented at a Community Open Day at Manning Community Hall from 1-4pm on Saturday 20 May 2017.

Following the Planning Design Forum, held in March 2017, City staff and consultants RobertsDay have prepared a final report informed by community and stakeholder consultation to date.

The report includes strategies, goals and recommendations for the continuing planning and development of the Precinct and immediate surrounding area. A summary of these key findings, will be presented at the open day for all residents, ratepayers and stakeholders to view and discuss with City staff and RobertsDay consultants.

The report will be made available on the City’s website following the Open Day.

As the City progresses with planning for the Precinct and surrounding area there will be further opportunities for the community to provide comment and be involved.

Background
The City’s Place + Design project for the South Perth Station Precinct (SPSP), has been undertaken in collaboration with community members and other key stakeholders.

The Place + Design project team was led by place, urban design and planning consultants RobertsDay and included experienced professionals from Donaldson + Warn (architecture), EPCAD (landscape architecture), Colliers International (economics) and GTA Consultants (engineering and traffic).

The project builds on the existing vision, consultant research and stakeholder input to date, and also considers development that is currently occurring in the area. Its primary focus is on improving liveability, community benefit and built form outcomes within the Precinct.

The project team has collaborated and worked extensively over the past six months with the City staff, represented Councillors and stakeholders (including community group representatives, individual residents, developers, business owners, land owners and government representatives) to workshop issues and establish a collective way forward for the City and Peninsula stakeholders.
